A Champagne & Chocolate Affair in February honored veterinarians who partner with the Montgomery County Humane Society to provide no-cost and low-cost spay/neuter services to adopters and Montgomery County residents. More than 100 guests, sponsors and partnering veterinarians attended and the event raised nearly $5,000 to benefit spay/neuter programs and other life-saving services. Click here to see photos.
In MCHS’ early years back in the 1960’s, the organization handled approximately 20,000 animals each year. Now, that number is closer to 8,500.
"This dramatic decrease means there are many fewer homeless animals and the result is a healthier and safer community for our citizens and their pets. It also means that we now have a community of much more educated and responsible pet owners," said Cris Bombaugh, President & CEO.
Dr. Victoria Hollifield of Best Friends Veterinary Hospital in Gaithersburg was recognized with MCHS’ Exemplary Service Award for her work on behalf of homeless, abandoned, and neglected animals.
