Low-Cost Spay/Neuter

If the adopted animal has not yet been spayed / neutered you will be required to purchase a low cost spay/neuter coupon at the time of adoption. Please keep in mind that each vet has different costs for pain medication, overnight care, and bloodwork etc. that are not included in the coupon. Please call two or more vets to determine the overall cost. A list of participating veterinarians will be provided to you at the time of adoption.

Female Cat $47.00
Male Cat $35.00
Male Dog Under 65lbs $57.00
Male Dog Over 65lbs $74.00
Female Dog Under 35 lbs $57.00
Female Dog 36-65 lbs $70.00
Female Dog over 65 lbs $80.00

Conditional Costs
If the pet is in heat additional $13.00
If the pet is pregnant additonal $21.00
If the pet is obese additional $21.00

Other possible costs at the time of adoption

Microchip implant and registration fee will be $20.00
If we have given your animal a rabies vaccine, the cost will be $10.00
Temporary Identification tag (required by all cat and dog adoptions) $2.00
If we have given your cat a feline leukemia test the cost will be $7.00
If we have given your cat a feline leukemia test and FIV test the cost will be $25.00
If we have given your dog or cat a flea treatment the cost will be $10.00
If we have tested your dog for heartworm the cost will be $25.00

Low-Cost Spay Neuter Program for animals NOT adopted from MCHS

The Low Cost Spay Neuter Program is available to residents of Montgomery County, Maryland. Costs are based upon your family's income. Please review the tables below in the PDF file format.

Print the spay/neuter application from the PDF file below and complete the form. Mail the form, proof of income, a check if applicable, and a self-addressed, stamped business sized envelope to:
