Thank you for your request to surrender your pet to MCHS. 

Our space is limited, so we cannot accept every animal request that we receive. However, if we determine that we may be able to help by taking in your pet, we will contact you within 48 hours in most cases.  Due to the volume of requests we receive, you will only receive a response if we determine that we may be able to help your pet. 

If you do not receive a call from MCHS within 48 hours, please consider the dozens of other pet rescues that serve our region. You can Google species- or breed-specific rescues for more information (i.e., “cat rescues,” “German Shepherd rescues,” etc.). Another option is the Montgomery County Animal Services & Adoption Center, at 240-773-5900. 

If you are scheduled to visit MCHS with your pet, please note that masks, social distancing and other safety measures are required.
